February 21st, 2019, The Priebe Wealth Management Group had the opportunity to experience flight at the new iFLY Indoor Skydiving facility in Minnetonka, MN. As wealth management advisors, the Priebe group looks for new ways to understand, support, and assist our clients prepare for their future. Thursday night was an opportunity to support each other by trying something new together; with a little help from the iFLY team; defy gravity.
Beginning the night with light hor d’oeuvres and beverages, our group watched in anticipation and excitement as groups ahead of us jumped in the vertical wind tunnel. As one attendee noted, “It was amazing, and relieving, to see the range of ages and experience levels of the jumpers before us. The veteran jumpers make it look so easy. Honestly, it was intimidating at first. Then, you realize there are all types of people here, even some first-timers like me.”
The massive glass wind tunnel is the first of its kind in Minnesota. The tunnel boasts an ample 12-foot diameter and stands at 35-feet tall. The large fans are capable of driving air up the wind tunnel at up to 150 miles per hour. At that speed, the fans can create enough force to suspend a person in midair. One after the other, each attendee made their jump, some making it look easier than others.
After hor d’oeuvres and beverages, it was our turn to fly. Gearing up in wind suits, helmets, and goggles we were almost ready to jump. First, a short introduction class to learn the necessary hand gestures and proper body positioning. Filing into the wind tunnel’s waiting area, our own Jason Priebe made the first jump.
